I was contacted by Hasitha the week prior to Vaayu’s newborn photography session. She was after some beautiful newborn photography shots of her two-week-old baby boy and luckily I was able to fit them in the following week. While most photographers including myself recommend within the first two weeks of life, as a leading Newborn Photographer in Melbourne I have completed many sessions with older babies around 3 or 4 weeks of age with fantastic success. Vaayu’s newborn photography session was no different and with mum carefully following my session day tips, he slept soundly the entire time!!
For Vaayus newborn photography session, his parents chose a range of colours including blues, greens, yellows, reds/oranges, tans and creams. I love carefully planning out each individual newborn session to incorporate parents style and colour preferences to make their babies session unique to them.
We started off with sweet baby Vaayu in some gorgeous deep greens in the potato sack pose. Babies love this one as they are wrapped nice and tight and are upright, to begin with. We took shots both with and without bonnet for variety and parents favourites from this set can be seen below. Dads hand was safely under the flokati rug supporting babies neck to ensure baby doesn’t go anywhere.
We then quickly moved onto our blue setup on the day in this gorgeous white vintage bucket. I love how the top image here highlights Vaayu’s luscious long baby lashes!
Next set up was this adorable little fox set up I had prepared. How absolutely ADORABLE does he look here?! I love this little hat and fox teddy setup. These must have been some of my favourite photos from his session.
After our fox setup it was time for Vaayus big brother Shreyas to jump in. We first captured Vaayu alone in the bowl before Shreyas joined and showered his baby brother with love and kisses.
Sibling and family images
We then moved onto some laying down shots which are my fave! The siblings together without any props or other distractions is a lovely and simple way to capture them.
Next, we completed our family photos. I always encourage my parents and families to jump in and have photos with their precious baby. These are the images that your baby will look back on and love most when they are all grown up.
Next we completed some more with Vaayu and a baby in parents hand shot. This is the first time I have added in sibling hands too. Very cute!
While mum, dad and big brother sat back down to relax, I continued to work my magic with Vaayu. Vaayus parents had spotted this cute little blue outfit while flicking through one of my many sample albums. I love how he is puckering his lips here and we can see his cute little rolls!
As Vaayu was still sleeping so soundly we continued our session and did a rustic wooden bed prop. And big brother was excited to jump in for yet another sibling photo! So many adorable images left Vaayus parents with lots of options for their newborn photos.
“It was an awesome experience and we were very impressed with how well you handled Vaayu.” – Hasitha
